MAKING A CHILD’S WORLD BETTER IS BUT A STEPPING STONE…
Computers and the internet access is very much taken for granted as being part of life in general. Most children have, at a very early age, access to or experienced already in the cyber space world. But children from under privileged backgrounds do not have this luxury at home and even at school, are denied this experience due to lack of funds.
Narrowtex is a firm believer of learner inspiration and has supported various local charities and schools. Over the years the company has contributed either with financial assistance or specific capital needs to local schools in the area.
The latest project involved Weenen Primary School in the heart of the Kwazulu Natal Midlands.
Narrowtex assisted in upgrading the security of the classroom, provided desks for the computers, a printer, software and technical expertise for the full set up, including internet access.
The kids can now learn about computers and have access to the internet. This has opened thousands of opportunities for the learners, especially since they come from such impoverished living conditions.
The previous project involved another local school, Celukuphiwa School, a short while ago.
Celukuphiwa School did not have any space to house the computer centre so the company built an additional classroom, with sufficient security to accommodate the computer learning centre.
Here too the kids have access to the internet with decent, up to date computer hardware and software to enable them to carve an entire different life for themselves and their families, in the future.
